Some more random photos of our new life

Takeaway

This is a 'reataurant' right outside our place. We have not yet been brave enough to try it, but often the smells are wonderful. The same area also is host to a late night market and on the weekends they bring it racks and racks of clothes - all for 15 RM. We haven't been to that either....

And the following picture is what happens when Daddy supervises crafty time - Daddy who was an art major and should know goggly eyes and play dough don't really go together!

Things are looking up

Since the word knit is in my blog name, here is proof that some knitting has been happening since we hit KL

Socksinkl

There are slated to be hubbo's birthday socks. He never reads my blog, so I am not worried about the surprise factor.

We now are proud car owners so that has made life much much better. Tomorrow I will try taking the car out for the first time. Luckily our road is so busy there is no chance I will try and drive the wrong way!

We have also ben relaxing by our beautiful pool - I love it!

And these are my lovely sockpal socks from the blogless, Sarah of FL. I love them. Sarah was also kind enough to send a few goodies, including some neat-o needles and some beautiful warm weather sock yarn. Thanks Sarah! And no, I did not really wear the socks by the pool, the photo was staged.

Not over the culture shock yet

KL is still a little hard. Ok a lot hard but I think it might get better soon.

We need a car desperately. This city is the most pedistrian unfriendly place I have ever been, at least our part of town. It is almost impossible to go anywhere with the 2 little ones in tow, especially alone during the day.

Just getting food has been a bit of an issue but again things should get better soon - tomorrow the van lady is coming wih her 2 vans full of food, so I plan to stock up as best I can - there is still the issue of how to haul everything back upstairs to the apartment from the street, but I am choosing to not think about it right now.
Luke will start school in another week and if the car comes through this weekend then both kiddos will start Chinese school next week. They need something to so besides wrestle with one another!

Fingers crossed we get that car!

Knitting from Malaysia

We made it to KL almost 2 weeks ago now. We are slowly slowly starting to settle in. Our apartment is great and we have an awesome view of the Petronas Towers - when I locate the camera cord thing I will post a picture.

It is hot all the time. The oldest - who turned 13 yesterday! - is happily enrolled at his new school. The middle one will start in September and little Claire will have to wait till January to start school. Though both the littles one will soon be off to Chinese school daily - they are ready for some routine - as am I!

In knitting news, I have been plugging along with the afghan squares, finished one Monkey sock, and started on a sock for hubbo's December birthday present. I also recieved my sock pal socks and they were a super cute pair of footie socks from blogless Sarah - photos to come when that cord thing is found.

Socks done and DC for a week

Socksdone

Here are the finished socks. I realize I have not posted one single photo the whole time I was working on them. They seemed to take forever, but I am guessing a trip back to the States, a trip back to China to pack up and then another trip back to the States had something to do with that. They were super easy and not too fancy - I hope my sockpal likes them. I left them for my Mom to mail - so she should have them any minute now.

Dinomuseum

And since we are hanging out in DC for the week, we made a trip to the dino museum as Luke refers to the Museum of Natural History. We like to do whirlwind museum visits as that is all the two youngest can handle most days.

Eatingatthezoo

We also made a trip to the National Zoo. Why is it always 100 degrees whenever we go to the zoo?! We met up with another Foreign Service family and made our way around the zoo - only looking at things that were in fact interesting. They were a great family to go with as they have 4 ! little daughters.
The only sad thing abut the picture is the new bracelet Luke is wearing. A Medicalert bracelet. My poor boy is seriously allergic to eggs and probably a host of other things - more testing to come after we reach Malaysia. The restaurant and random throwing up needs to stop!
