Have you met my children?!

Yesterday at close of business things were not going well in the travel office across the way.  Apparently there was a small (Giagantic) mistake about my last name on my ticket back to the States.  Someone actually said it won't matter....right.
So the travel lady who made the mistake in the first place stayed late and tried her best to get us all a seat on a plane home.  She tried a lot of things.  At one point she handed over a sheet that had the 3 children and I stopping 5 times before reaching Malaysia on the way back.  5 times!  Clearly she has never met my children.

Maybe we have seats now, who knows.  If it stays the way we left it then we fly a day early and have a stopover in Singapore - a mere hour flight away.  But that also means we can hit the Night Safari there.  So that sort of makes up for it.  Sort of.

KL view

Occasionally David gets to do something sort of cool at work.  This week he got to go up on the top of the KL tower.  I guess KL is a little polluted seeing the picture of the haze...but not as bad as Beijing!

Some one had a birthday

Yesterday was Claire's 3rd birthday.  We had some FS friends over who are leaving for Munich in a week - I am SO jealous.  Before they left, the brought Claire a sweet book with the BEST Malaysian wrapping paper ever.  It says things like 'I want to be slim' 'I want diamonds' 'I want to be pretty'.  There is not a single Malaysian that would see anything wrong with giving such wrapping paper to a little girl.  Birthday1
Claire has learned this year how to open presents on her ownBirthday2 Birthday3

National Day - in Sweden

Apparently it was National Day in Sweden the other day - who knew?

My Mother always asks me what I am knitting, so today there is knitting project show and tell..

Knitting1

One of the many hats I have been cranking out using odds and ends of yarn. Very satisfying and quick.

Knitting2

Luke's cotton airplane cardigan that just will not end. I am over the cotton yarn.

Knitting3

Pair of manly socks. Wool and cashmere blend, these have also been around too long.

Knitting4

This is for my knitting friend here. She is leaving in a mere 2 weeks or so, so I better put this at the top of the knitting list. Feather and fan - how I have grown to hate thee!

Knitting5

And fun socks for me. I am going to try my best to knit up all my yarn before we move next summer - 19 more pairs of socks to be made! I hope I don't add to the stash too much this summer when we are back in the States...

Ampang area

We live in a popular expat area of Kuala Lumpur called Ampang. Here are two shots taken on Friday.

Ampang1

A beautiful pylon underneath a flyover. Most are ads for tution or home tutoring as we like to call it in America.

Ampang2

And I guess Norway is to the left??

Someone is developmentally on track

So I have worried about Lukey-Luke and his issues....not walking upstairs the 'right' way at the 'right' time, not being able to pedal at the 'right' time, not writing his name by age 4. He is fine now, but all the worry!

Claire Bear is a different kid.

Drawing

Here is some of her handiwork

Drawing2

She will be 3 in a week or so. She can pedal fast and run up and down the stairs with alternating feet. She is on track, on target and has met every single developmental milestone there is. No worry for her frazzled parents - yet!

Not much

Not much has been happening with us in KL lately. We go to the pool a lot, it rains most days for about 30 minutes and I try and do something crafty everyday.

Tuxsweater

I had been working on this sweater for a long while now and it is finally done and I love it. I am figuring out what to knit for myself next, in between more hats and socks.

Excellent video - USAID can fund good things!
