Super quick knit.  Mittens using Ann Budd's book of patterns.  I think we are all going to be getting some mittens...

Some quick socks in a rather unfortunate colour.  I plan to try and dye them later as I do really like the weight of the yarn.

Sewing the fastest quilt ever

Here is the angry chicken style quilt for my middle son.  I asked him if he liked it, he said, "I guess."  I said, "That is the wrong answer."  He changed it to, "Sweet???"  

Quilt #2 has some of the same colours but is actually a wall hanging.  I am not usually into the wall hanging quilts, but this one is sort of neat.  Also sort of hard as I don't really know how to do applique.

Quilt #2

Quilt #2 is almost all cut out.  It is for my middle son and he requested blue and a little orange.  I am planning to make it a la Angry Chicken, even though the ladies at the quilt store thought I was crazy.

Sewing

Yesterday I had an appointment with someone I have met several times before.  I probably freaked out a little too much when she said "By the way, I read your blog."  Luckily this particular person is very used to dealing with people freaking out.  That was my first blog reading encounter with a real person - hopefully it won't be my last as she liked it!

I have been sewing away lately.  I whipped up a skirt for Claire out of a skirt of mine that must have shrunk a lot in the wash - um, yeah.

And here is the finished quilt for the oldest.  He picked out the colours and really likes the end result.  I already went out and bought fabric for quilt #2.

Malay kitty cat

Felix the cat has grown.  He is no longer tiny or fluffy.  He likes to stick his tongue out and is a constant morning alarm clock - call to prayer = feeding time.  He is still very tolerant of the children and can sometimes be found riding in the doll stroller or the play grocery cart...'he likes to shop' says our daughter.

The other day the dryer repair guy was here and for some reason the cat was not afraid of him like all other workers.  He asked more than once if he was a Malaysian cat and if we were going to take him when we left. I am not sure which point he thought was stranger....

I love free knitting patterns

I have had a lot of luck lately with free knitting patterns from all over.  The first is the baktus scarf.  I loved it so much I made 2.  One in Noro Hana Silk and the other in bright red gift yarn from my knitting friend, Grace...actually both yarns were gifts from her.  Thanks again Grace!

And finally another free pattern which I love - the Edgar scarf from knitty.  Again, the yarn was a gift from Grace.  Grace gives good gifts because again the Noro yarn!
